Salt Spring Peace Centre
![]() |
The Global Country of World Peace – Salt Spring Island (GCWP-SSI) was founded as a non-profit organization to bring permanent peace to the world. The founding members are residents of Salt Spring Island who are concerned about the level of violence and conflict prevalent in the world today. They have resolved to take some practical and concrete steps to create peace now.
The establishment of a Peace Centre on Salt Spring Island will be the focal point for a Peace Program that works. At this Centre, a resident peace-creating group, through the daily practice of proven technologies of consciousness, will create an influence so powerful and pervasive that war, violence and terrorism will simply cease to exist. This Peace Centre will not be a facility for mere discussions of peace or investigation of the causes of criminal and social disruption. It will be the location of a program that will produce results.
Peace Palaces
The Salt Spring Peace Centre will be one of 3000 such centres around the world also known as Peace Palaces. Currently Peace Palaces are being planned and built throughout the world to create peace—peace of mind, peace in the functioning of the body, and peace in the community and world at large.
Research shows that the programs offered at these facilities create peace. Whether measured as reduced anxiety, increased self-actualization, reduced post-traumatic stress disorder, reduced hypertension, reduced atherosclerosis, reduced hospital admissions, younger biological age, increased job satisfaction, improved relationships, or reduced crime and global tension, the programs offered create a more peaceful and balanced individual as the basis for a more peaceful world.
More than fifty scientific studies indicate that the inner balance enjoyed by program participants radiates to create more balance in society. One of these studies, published in the International Journal of Conflict Resolution , edited at Yale University, indicated that, even in a war torn area, when a critical number of people participated in these programs, the quality of life of the whole area was improved significantly.
The programs offered at the Peace Centres will neutralize the tensions and stress in society that are at the basis of war and violence. The time has come to use a proven technology that will solve these problems at their basis. Permanent world peace is a realistic goal.
Overwhelming scientific research
The founders and supporters of GCWP-SSI know that this project will have a substantial effect. They have examined the overwhelming accumulated scientific research and have also had personal experience of these technologies of peace. Peace can be achieved for very little cost compared to the costs of current efforts to combat violence, crime, and war. A committed team on Salt Spring has been diligently working on the organization of this project. Their dedication to the project stems from the following observations:
- The project will have a powerful and long-lasting impact on world
peace.
- This project will address the causes of international conflict and
terrorism at their root.
- This peace-creating technology needs a permanent physical facility
(the Peace Centre) to ensure that its effects remain stable, and so
that the effects become cumulative.
- This facility and program can demonstrate and encourage replication
worldwide.
- Canada has a traditional peace keeping role that is well suited to
this project.
GCWP-SSI has already gathered support for this project from many local residents and hundreds of others across the region and the nation. The next goal is to raise enough funds to secure the land for the Peace Centre. At this time in history, world peace is a matter of personal priority for us all. There is a peaceful way to resolve conflicts and bring permanent peace to all nations. We need your support. You are an important part of the solution. Please give generously.
